ve3rwn -> RE: Repeater Directory (VE3RTR) (3/10/2007 4:18:25 PM)

This afternoon (March 10th) a new D-STAR VHF repeater was commissioned near Cobourg, Ontario.
The repeater is located at a commercial broadcast site approx 55 miles east of Toronto along the north shore of Lake Ontario. (45 miles due north of Rochester, NY)

Testing this afternoon with VE3EI, VE3RSJ, and VE3RWN indicate good mobile coverage continuously along Hwy 401 from the east end of Toronto through to Belleville and north including Peterborough and Lindsay. The repeater is expected to provide valuable mobile coverage on the 401 freeway linking Toronto and Montreal, as well as Highway 7.

Location: Cobourg, ON
Repeater Coverage:  Hwy 401 Corridor - Toronto-Oshawa-Cobourg-Belleville
Repeater Type: Stand Alone - Gateway/Internet in planning

D-STAR Monitor:
Repeater Information:  The BCFMCA (British Columbia  Frequency Modulation Communications Association) in conjunction with the BCWARN (BC Wireless Amateur Radio Network) are pleased to announce the commissioning of a new D-Star repeater system in the Vancouver, BC area. Located on Mt Seymour at 3500' ASL, this site has outstanding coverage of the major population centres in SW BC and NW WA and will be a tremendous asset for Emergency Communications in the area in addition to its use by the local amateur community. The VHF repeater is operational now and initial reports indicate coverage is excellent. The UHF, 1.2g data and voice as well as the Gateway will be commissioned over the next 3 - 4 weeks.

This brings the total number of D-Star repeater in British Columbia to 3, including VA7ICM (A,B,C) in Surrey BC and VE7VAS (C) (temporary callsign for testing) in Victoria, BC. Many thanks to the tremendous support from BCFMCA, BCWARN and Eric Meth at Icom Canada for making this possible.
