New Icom 50th Anniversary Limited Edition IC-7850 High Frequency Amateur Radio Now Available

Icom America announces the new IC-7850, a HF/50MHz transceiver that celebrates Icom Incorporated's 50th anniversary. The IC-7850 is a limited edition model with distinctive gold accents and a commemorative panel to certify its authenticity. Radio features include an optimized roofing filter, new local oscillator (LO) design, improved phase noise and enhanced spectrum scope.

The IC-7850 commemorates the 50th anniversary year of Icom Inc., Icom America's parent company headquartered in Osaka, Japan. This limited edition radio has gold accents on its front panel as well as a decal featuring the company's 50th anniversary logo and signature of Tokuzo Inoue, Icom's founder. Only 150 IC-7850 are available worldwide and are numbered accordingly on the decal.

Icom's IC-7850 improves HF operation with new features such as a 1.2kHz optimized roofing filter that improves in-band adjacent signal performance. For the rig's Local Oscillator (LO), Icom breaks tradition and employs a Direct Digital Synthesizer (DDS) along with the Phase Locked Oscillator. This new LO design sets a new touchstone for phase noise with -150dBc/Hz at 10kHz offset (and -140dBc/Hz at 1kHz offset).

The new IC-7850 also features a high-resolution spectrum waterfall function as well as an enhanced spectrum scope that can be operated with PC mouse via USB port. A dual scope function shows simultaneous activity in both bands, which is convenient when searching a sub-band and maintaining a run frequency on the main band.

The IC-7850 is available at the end of February 2015 with a suggested retail price of $19,275.00.
