Icom America Releases New IDAS™ F5121D Series Basic Mobile Radio
BELLEVUE, WA – Icom America announces the new IDAS™ IC-F5121D/F6121D mobile radio for the business and industry
markets.
Ideal for schools, transportation, and delivery fleets, the streamlined F5121D series mobile features 6.25 kHz
channel spacing, digital/analog mixed mode operation, and simple, straightforward operation. More features
include 128 channel capacity and group/individual call (receive/ transmit).
Dual-mode capability allows users to integrate the F5121D series mobile into a current analog system for gradual
transition to an IDAS™ digital 6.25 kHz system. The radio can be used in both conventional and single-site trunked
systems.
“The F5121D offers the advantages of digital communications at a very competitive price point,” says Mark Behrends,
Icom National Sales Manager. “It provides outstanding audio quality and expanded coverage using very narrowband
channels for a more efficient use of spectrum. This is particularly beneficial in urban areas, where FCC licenses
are in high demand.”
Based on the NXDN™ common air interface, Icom’s IDAS (Icom Digital Advanced System) technology occupies only 6.25
kHz spectrum per channel, exceeding FCC narrowband requirements and providing an enhanced feature set and data
capabilities.
Available immediately, the F5121D/F6121D mobile radio offers a retail price of $675. Also available to this
new mobile is a companion new portable, the F3101D/F4101D IDAS hand held radio.
