POSITION TITLE:   Lead Systems Technologist

LOCATION: Corporate – Kirkland, WA

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Works with the Icom sales team to achieve their Systems sales goals. Supports the Icom sales team, direct customers and dealers with LM Systems technical support, system design and OEM product integration. Builds complete customized Icom solutions and integrates OEM system product components. Assembles, tests, and installs “turn key” systems for sale to both government agencies and Icom dealers. Technical expert on all Systems applications, products and interfaces. Provides direct leadership for Systems Fulfillment technical staff members.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Achieve or exceed 100% of the annual Land Mobile Systems sales goal.

  • Test and evaluate potential components and recommends acceptance or rejection to the SysFul Manager. Integrate and incorporate Icom products wherever possible in new product designs. Build “turn-key” systems consistent with orders received. Test and stage complex assembled systems for customer acceptance. Participates in on-site optimization- installation and configuration of SysFul systems as necessary.

  • Develop procedures and processes for the SysFul manufacturing of ‘off the shelf’ systems products. Establish – maintain staging areas for assembled systems build outs. Ensure the necessary tools and test equipment is available to provide an efficient processing of ‘off the shelf ‘products. Makes recommendations to SysFul Manager and provides leadership for SysFul technical staff to ensure a timely throughput of sales orders. Provides quality assurance of all systems products- off the shelf and assembled systems.

  • Assists the Icom sales team and Systems Solutions Designer with bid preparation, technical advice and makes recommendations. Coordinates with SysFul operations staff, on a daily basis, to ensure accurate and efficient delivery of Systems products.

  • Communicates with the SysFul operations team, and provides leadership for SysFul technical staffing on a regular basis about product reliability, design, specification and production issues. Suggest improvements, modifications and design changes necessary to improve the overall performance of our products.

  • Assemble and configure system packages. Diagnose complex problems referred by customers, PM’s, RM’s and the Icom sales staff. Participates in on site installation- optimization and troubleshooting of Icom systems products.

  • Monitor the electronic and mechanical testing of assemblies to produce finished products that meet Icom quality standards. Provides a technical resource to the SysFul Manager, System Solutions Designer and SysFul technical staff.

  • Provides on-going hands on technical training to SysFul technical staff members to ensure unparalleled internal systems support and manufacturing capabilities.

  • Develops new and improved products for inclusion into the Systems portfolio of solutions. Includes accessory and mainframe development.

  • Provide detailed technical files for shipped systems configurations and product designs to System Solutions Designer for inclusion into the systems technical library and as AS-Built documentation for our customers.

  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • EXPERIENCE – 5 years of demonstrated success as a Site-System Technician, System Support Specialist, or System Integrator. Contacts already established within the industry.

  • TECHNOLOGY. RF wireless technology, commercial and consumer products. Mobile voice and data communications, computer controlled RF products. Two way radio handsets and base stations, scanners and receivers. LTR, Passport, TDMA and FDMA protocols. In-depth knowledge of various Land Mobile System architectures. Including, LTR, Passport, T1, Telco, IP networks, microwave and associated platforms.

  • SERVICE EXPERTISE – Proper use of signal generators, spectrum analyzers, frequency counters, and associated equipment. Ability to read and interpret electronic circuit diagrams, flow charts and schematics. Diagnostic and repair skills (including excellent soldering and assembly techniques) are necessary, as is knowledge of the function and performance of the various components used in LM Systems (i.e.; multi couplers, combiners, duplexers, controllers, etc.)

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Adobe In Design, Photoshop and Illustrator).

  • Ability to travel 25%, may include some weekend travel.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and tenacious follow through are necessary.

  • Requires initiative, assertiveness and ability to make decisions. Demonstrated leadership skills desired.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural team environment and with people with whom English is a second language.

  • FCC GROL- Required.

  • Professional appearance and demeanor required.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Two-year college degree in business, marketing, or other related field highly desirable.

  • Two year technical college in electronics, military communications school or equivalent required.

  • High school degree required.
