POSITION TITLE:   Field Support Technician
JOB CLASSIFICATION:   Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO:   Technical Service Manager
LOCATION:   Mt. Laurel, NJ

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Icom America believes that customer satisfaction starts with great technical support. The Field Support Technician provides expanded technical support to our internal and external customers. As a FST you will travel to customer sites, with minimal notice, to proactively troubleshoot issues. FST will also research issues, perform training, and interface with customers by phone and email. FST will present a professional and positive presence while answering technical questions or configuring systems. A FST will develop expertise and provide training on ICOM channel products and third-party product integration to exceed customer expectations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Performing RF support functions within the Icom America organization and at customer sites, teaching, diagnosing, and repairing RF System applications.

  2. Will perform the function of a standard TSR representative by providing phone and email support at levels equal to the TSR representatives, preparing training documents, presentations, and testing of any products as requested.

  3. This person must have a demonstrated working knowledge in networking, IP addressing, sub netting, networking equipment, and theory.

  4. Provide expert troubleshooting using logic, service monitors, spectrum analyzers, and other tools common to the radio industry.

  5. Perform expert troubleshooting over the phone and through email by using knowledge and understanding of RF and IP products, using past experience in radio, and IP software configurations

  6. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 years of demonstrated success as an RF Site-System Technician configuring, assembling, and repairing repeaters, antenna systems, and site filtering.

  • Demonstrated experience in networking hardware and application experience.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including excellent positive phone presence.

  • Excellent computer skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for presentations, reports, and customer incident documentation.

  • Travel with minimal advanced notice. May include some weekend travel.

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs and repeatedly handle heavy containers carrying test equipment.

  • FCC GROL- Strongly desired.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Two year technical college in electronics, military communications school, or equivalent preferred.
